One of Hayao Miyazaki's creations is Spirited Away. The film was released in 2001, so you shouldn't expect incredible special effects and very advanced art from it. However, the toolkit that was used by the author in a range with extraordinary voice acting fully meets the expectations of even the most sophisticated and modern viewer.

The film is almost 2 hours long, but you will not notice the time spent watching it, it flies by almost unnoticed.

The plot of the movie

The plot of the film revolves around a 10-year-old girl Chihiro, who moved to another city with her parents. On the road, the car accidentally goes astray, and the whole family ends up near an overgrown forest road. At the end of this road, a mysterious tunnel was waiting for them, and our heroes, out of their curiosity, decided to visit it.

At the end of the tunnel, they find an abandoned city that looks empty and unsociable. However, the girl soon realizes that the tunnel did not lead them to an abandoned village at all, but to the mysterious world of spirits, hidden from everyone and forbidden to be visited by ordinary living people.

The girl's parents, after a feast at a local shop with goodies, suddenly begin to turn into pigs, and images of ghosts appear throughout the city. At the last moment, Chihiro is rescued by a mysterious stranger who guessed that she was from the world of the living.

To survive in the complex and incomprehensible world of spirits, Chihiro gets a job as a stoker in the local baths for spirits. After hard work, the girl begins to understand what is really going on. Now she has to save her parents and return home. In this struggle with the spirits, she still has an ally - the boy Haku, who saved her for the first time.

Features of the film

In 2003, two years after the first screening, the film was already awarded an Oscar for Best Animated Film, but at the moment it is the only award given by film critics in its field.

Hayao Miyazaki built the plot of his extraordinary film around the images of Japanese mythology. For example: the theft of the name shown in the film is called "kamikakushi" in Japanese mythology, and the spirits shown in the picture have real Japanese prototypes.

In addition, the picture perfectly reveals the life and customs of the Japanese, their traditions and rituals. Recommended for the whole family, including young children.
